Chaltu Fikru did her Bachelor of Public Health in 2011 and her MPH in Epidemiology. She has been teaching, mentoring, and advising both under- and postgraduate medical and health science students since her graduation in 2015. She has attended different face-to-face and online trainings, which helped her advance in her knowledge and skills in conducting research and delivering training for different stakeholders, like Public Health Emergency Management (PHEM) for frontline healthcare workers. She was a research team member in the recent national immunization program evaluation done nationally in 2023.

She is currently a member of a JU-funded research project aspiring to develop a Multi-Model Data Integration and Knowledge Creation Tool for Major Infectious Diseases (MMDI-KIT) with a major focus on malaria and dengue.
