Work Package 5: Digitalization and Implementation Support of IDSR and (RDT) Diagnostics

The Work Package aims to develop and implement an updated digital data collection tool for participating sentinel facilities, using mobile phones and tablets. Affordable and GDPR-compliant data entry software will be customized and implemented at clinical sites and facilities, with data hosted on protected servers. The project also focuses on increasing the number and diversity of digital diagnostic tests to support clinical decision-making and epidemiological dashboarding. Additionally, the project will evaluate and develop mobile phone-based digitalization of diagnostic tests for typhoid fever and brucellosis and explore opportunities for local production of digital diagnostic tests in Ethiopia.

  • 1. To digitalize IDSR data entry tool and link in semi-real time (several times per day synchronization) to dashboards of WP5.

    2. To support digitalizing existing and novel diagnostics (RDTs) through mobile phone imaging software sourced from pertinent producers.

    3. To conduct QC of data (completeness, accuracy, individual facility performance) through interim analyses.

    4. To assess opportunities for local production of digital diagnostics (RDTs) supplies and services.
