Dr. Tufa functions as an academic staff member at Arsi University College of Health Science. Besides this, he acts as the coordinator of the Hirsch Institute of Tropical Medicine (HITM) in Asella, Ethiopia, which was established in 2013 as a collaboration between Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf and Arsi University.
Dr. Tufa Beyene Tufa holds a BSc in Medical Laboratory Technology from Haramaya University and an MSc in Medical Microbiology from the College of Health Sciences, Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. Recently, he received his Ph.D. in the field of diagnosis and therapy of diseases from the Faculty of Medicine, Heinrich Heine University, Düsseldorf, Germany.
Over the last 10 years, Dr. Tufa has actively researched sepsis in Africa, antimicrobial resistance, HIV/AIDS, opportunistic fungal infections, and One Health. In the last five years, he successfully managed and supervised eight international multisite studies.
