Lauren Fromont is a passionate scientific programme manager specializing in data science and global health, with a PhD in Biomedical Sciences. Currently serving as a Program Officer at ISGlobal, Lauren plays a pivotal role in the EDCTP-funded EpiGen Ethiopia project. She co-leads Work Package 8 on Networking, where she coordinates Communities of Practice within the GenEpi network, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange among genomic surveillance professionals in sub-Saharan Africa. Additionally, she co-supervises two international PhD students, Bacha Mekonen and Neamin Tesfaye, supporting their research and professional development. Lauren is also actively involved in Work Package 4 on training initiatives and manages internal scientific communication for the project, ensuring alignment and effective dissemination of project outcomes.
Having lived in five countries, Lauren brings a rich global perspective to her work. Her career spans managing groundbreaking genomics projects, advocating for health equity, and building strategic partnerships to address critical health challenges. An ambassador for Women in Data Science and Women in Global Health Spain, Lauren is dedicated to empowering women in STEM fields and integrating gender perspectives into capacity-building initiatives.
