I have graduated with a B.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Technology at University of Gondar and an M.Sc. in Medical Microbiology at Addis Ababa University. I have more than 15 years of work experience in the two academic institutions, Jigjiga University and Saint Paul's Hospital Millennium medical college, as an assistant lecturer of Medical laboratory technology, lecturer, and assistant professor in Medical microbiology. In these institutions I have conducted and engaged in teaching, research, community service, and leadership.
I have engaged in some research work in infectious diseases such as, HIV, tuberculosis, and other bacterial pathogens and have published on peer-reviewed journals. I have profound knowledge and skills on phenotypic characterization of pathogenic microorganisms, microbial DNA/RNA extraction, amplification and detection. Recently I have also developed skills in pathogen sequencing. In the future, I have great interest to conduct research in the area of pathogen genomics by using high throughput molecular technologies. I am a dedicated, cooperative, respectful and compassionate person. I have very good interpersonal skills and active in a team work.
Currently, I am a PhD candidate in Medical microbiology at Addis Ababa University. I am also a country PhD student and part of the EpiGen Ethiopia project.
