Rozina Tariku is a public health specialist working at the Ethiopian Public Health Institute, recently as an acting director for disease and health events surveillance and response directorate. Also worked in the national public health institute as a public health emergency response expert previously. She received a BSc degree in public health from Arbaminch University in 2012 and her MSc degree in general master’s in public health (GMPH) from Addis Ababa University in 2016. She used to work as a clinical practitioner in a rural health center in Ethiopia as her initial work experience.
She also worked as a coordinator of the national maternal and perinatal death surveillance and response system. During this time, she contributed significantly to the surveillance system improvement in the country. Also worked as a chair for the national TWG of MPDSR and SRH in humanitarian setting working groups. During a crisis situation in the country, she has been able to lead and coordinate the emergency health response activities. Also participated as a co-author in six different published articles.
She has coordinated the national outbreak investigation and response activities for the past six years. Many of these outbreaks are emerging and reemerging diseases in the country, such as Covid-19, Cholera, Polio, Measles, Malaria, Dengue fever, Yellow fever and others.
