This PhD project investigates the drivers of cholera in Ethiopia by integrating genomic and epidemiological data within a multiscalar analytical framework. Cholera remains a persistent public health challenge, characterized by recurrent outbreaks, uneven spatial distribution, and emerging antimicrobial resistance.
The study combines national surveillance and genomic data to understand transmission dynamics, identify high-risk areas, and improve the prediction of outbreaks and antimicrobial resistance using advanced statistical and machine learning approaches.
By integrating these data sources, the research aims to strengthen the understanding of cholera transmission in Ethiopia and support more effective outbreak prediction and targeted public health interventions.
