Tools for Epidemic Outbreaks: Workshop on PHEM, DHIS II, and KoBoCollect
ADDIS ABABA, ETHIOPIA (25-26 February 2025) - The EpiGen Ethiopia Project team hosted a tools-training workshop at the Ethiopian Public Health National Training Centre. The workshop focused on Public Health Emergency Management (PHEM), District Health Information System ver. 2 (DHIS II), and Mobile data Collection using KoBoCollect. These digital tools enhance data collection, analysis, and response to public health threats.
Attendees of the workshop consisted of 60 health professionals from 30 pilot health facilities scattered throughout Addis Ababa’s City Administration Health Bureau. A series of presentations preceded hands-on training and an extensive laboratory visit to familiarize the trainees and to answer relevant questions. These capacity building programmes are critical for the success of EpiGen Ethiopia, enabling near-real-time public health decision making through sound data and analyses.
Rozina Tariku, a PhD Candidate from the Amsterdam Institute for Global Health and Development (AIGHD), wrote a full report of the workshop which you can access by clicking the button.
