“Poor Quality of Care Causes More Deaths Than Lack of Access to Care,” shares SafeCare’s Roelinde Bakker

Last 26 June, SafeCare joined EpiGen Ethiopia’s team for a day to share their findings on the impact of healthcare quality on patient’s quality of care and life.

Roelinde Bakker, SafeCare’s Head of Business Development, presented their work through the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI), highlighting the unique blend of research and implementation that her organization provides together with PharmAccess and the Medical Credit Fund.

Key ideas shared by Roelinde include the following:

1. Infection Prevention Control

2. Standardized Triage

3. Pre-operative Checklists

In Ethiopia, SafeCare has worked closely with Cure International Hospital to increase the quality of care provided to their patients, subsequently reducing mortality. Cure International works across 8 facilities across Kenya, Uganda, Niger, Ethiopia, The Philippines, Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Malawi.
