Masters’ students in Ethiopia learn about EpiGen project
Students enrolled for a master’s degree in public health at Bahr Dar University (BDU) had the opportunity to learn about EpiGen Ethiopia in May 2025.
EpiGen senior researcher Dr Ketema Tafess Tulu presented the lecture, supported by project coordinator Dr Lauren Fromont.
BDU course coordinator Dr Tesfaye Mersha from the Cincinnati Children's Hospital highlighted it was a great opportunity for the students to learn about pathogen surveillance in Ethiopia.
Dr Fromont introduced the EpiGen consortium and the pillars it relies on: Capacity building and network strengthening for cutting-edge research informing public health decisions. Dr Tulu exemplified those principles by detailing a use case on drug-resistant tuberculosis.
